Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Whitton

This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Man with Van Whitton is taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to conduct business in an ethical, transparent and responsible manner and to uphold the rights and dignity of all individuals connected to our activities.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Man with Van Whitton provides local and regional transport, removals and related services. Our operations are primarily based in the United Kingdom and involve a network of drivers, support staff, and a range of suppliers. These include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and providers of facilities and ancillary services. We acknowledge that even relatively simple supply chains can be exposed to risks of forced labour, exploitative working conditions and other forms of modern slavery.

Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery

We maintain a clear and strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced or compulsory labour, and child labour. This applies to our own operations and to every party with whom we do business. We are committed to acting professionally, fairly and with integrity in all business dealings. We expect the same high standards from our employees, temporary staff, contractors, agents, and suppliers. Any confirmed involvement in modern slavery will lead to decisive action, which may include termination of employment or business relationships and, where appropriate, reporting to the relevant authorities.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We aim to build long-term relationships with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical conduct. When engaging with suppliers, we seek assurances that they comply with applicable employment, labour and human rights laws, and that they have measures in place to prevent modern slavery in their own supply chains. We reserve the right to conduct proportionate risk-based audits of suppliers, either directly or through competent third parties. These audits may include reviewing employment records, verifying worker age and documentation, assessing working conditions, and checking that workers are not subject to recruitment fees, debt bondage or restrictions on freedom of movement.

Where a supplier is found to be falling short of our standards, we will seek to work constructively with them to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timescale. If they fail to remedy serious issues or show unwillingness to improve, we will consider suspending or terminating the relationship.

Training, Awareness and Responsibilities

Responsibility for implementing and overseeing this Modern Slavery Statement rests with the senior management of Man with Van Whitton. Management is responsible for ensuring that staff understand the expectations set out in this statement and for integrating these commitments into day-to-day decision-making. Personnel involved in procurement, contractor management or recruitment are made aware of the indicators of modern slavery and the importance of selecting ethical partners and fair employment practices.

Reporting Concerns and Protection from Retaliation

Everyone working for or with Man with Van Whitton is encouraged to report any actual or suspected instance of modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business or supply chains. Concerns may relate to our own staff, agency workers, subcontractors or suppliers. Reports can be made to a supervisor or to a senior manager, in person or in writing, and can be raised confidentially if preferred. All reports will be taken seriously, treated sensitively, and investigated promptly and fairly.

We will not tolerate any form of retaliation, victimisation or disadvantage against anyone who raises a concern in good faith or who assists in an investigation. Disciplinary action may be taken against any person who subjects a whistleblower to detrimental treatment.

Monitoring and Annual Review

We are committed to continuous improvement in our efforts to combat modern slavery. We will monitor the effectiveness of the measures described in this statement by reviewing supplier performance, reported concerns, audit findings and any changes in legal requirements or best practice. This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains current, relevant and robust. Revisions will take into account any lessons learned, developments in our operations or supply chains, and feedback from stakeholders.

By publishing this Modern Slavery Statement, Man with Van Whitton reaffirms its commitment to respect human rights, to prevent modern slavery in all its forms, and to work with employees, suppliers and partners to promote fair and decent work throughout our business activities.
